Mr. Guy D.Z. Phiri
Chairman

Mr. Guy Phiri was appointed as a Non-Executive Director for Cavmont Bank on the 21st of October 2011. Mr Phiri is currently serving as the Managing Director of Engen Petroleum Zambia Limited, overseeing all operations of Engen in Zambia. Before assuming the mantel of Managing Director, he served as the Divisional Manager in charge of Marketing at Engen. He also worked for Mobil Zambia as Lubricants Manager, Planning Associate and Lubrication Engineer, spanning a five year period. Mr Phiri also worked for Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM) as a Metallurgical Engineer. He holds a Masters Degree from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology. Mr. Phiri is a member of the following professional bodies; Associate Member of City and Guilds (AGGI), London, Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers UK, Zambia Institute of Directors, and the Engineering Association of Zambia. Mr. Phiri's other directorships includes; Lupili Investments, Zambia Federation of Employers, Kyalami Property Investments, Libby Investments and Lourie Estates Limited. 


Mr. Johan Swanepoel

Director

Mr. Johan Swanepoel was appointed as Non Executive Director for Cavmont Bank Limited in August 2008. Mr. Swanepoel was appointed as Managing Director of Bank Windhoek Limited on 1 July 1999.  In 2005 he took up the position of Group Managing Director of the Capricorn Investment Holdings Group. Mr. Swanepoel  completed his B.Com (Accounting) degree in 1979 at the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) and obtained his B.Com (Hons.) degree in 1981. After joining Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhouse  & Coopers) in 1980, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982. He was elected Managing Partner of Pricewaterhouse & Coppers in Namibia in 1989.


Mr. Joseph Ngosa

Director

Mr. Joseph Ngosa was appointed as a Non Executive Director for Cavmont Bank in August 2008.  Mr. Ngosa serves as a Director for the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) in charge of Investments. Prior to his engagement with NAPSA, Mr. Ngosa served as Financial Services Manager , Financial Analyst and Internal Auditor for Cavmont Bank Limited. He serves as a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians, is a Fellow member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants( ZICA) as well as the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA). He holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom. His other directorships include: National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) Audit Committee and Investment Committee.


Thinus (M J) Prinsloo

Non-Executive Director

Thinus Prinsloo joined Cavmont Bank Board on 5th of November 2012 as a non Executive Director. Mr. Prinsloo graduated from the University of the Free State (South Africa) with a B. Compt (Hons) in 1992 and then went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 1996. He has worked for a number of well-known companies including PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Johannesburg and London, and for IBM South Africa. In 2006, he joined Absa where he held various positions, including most recently as Chief Operating Officer of the Retail Bank. He also currently holds the position of Executive Director at Capricorn Investment Holdings (CIH).


Charles H. de B Carey
Managing Director

Charles H. de B Carey joined Cavmont Bank Limited as Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director on 1st July 2013.

He brings a wealth of experience gained from a broad and diverse multi-cultural background, particularly Asia-Pacific, European and African influences.

Throughout his career he has been involved in the finance sector, primarily in the Corporate and Investment Banking segment. His experience spans: Relationship Management, Coverage, Capital Markets, Operations, Risk, Credit Administration, Business Development, Treasury and Marketing functions in single site, multi-branch and cross-border domains.

Since leaving Citibank NA, London (UK), he has held senior positions in regional boutique and global financial institutions in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi and Zambia, with transactional coverage in several other African markets, including Nigeria, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe. He also held the position of Vice President at Loita Capital Partners International (LCPI), a Pan-African Investment Banking group, where he was in charge of Operations, Credit and Marketing functions.

Prior to his appointment at Cavmont Bank, Charles' most recent position was that of Corporate Banking Director for Barclays Africa and Indian Ocean, seconded to Barclays Bank Zambia Plc.

He is considered an expert in Africa with more than seventeen years of experience on the continent, managing country specific and regional responsibilities in the East, Central and Southern African markets. Three of his previous assignments were in organizations which he was able to successfully and sustainably launch or turn around.

Charles holds a B.A. (Hons) in Politics, Economics and Social History from the University of East Anglia (UK) and a Diploma in Theology from Oak Hill Theological College in London (UK).
